CAN I SELL THE STORIES I CREATE BY PLAYING COLOSTLE?

The intention of Colostle is that it is a game, rather than a way to generate stories that can be sold. Since the rulebook material is copyrighted, any mention of the words and concepts from the game book in a story (if it was to be sold) would be a breach of that copyright. Also, the word 'Colostle' is a registered trademark so any mention of that would be a breach of trademark as well.

 

Colostle is a game, first and foremost, the journal writing mechanic being a method for the player to export their adventures and have a way to record what has happened to them in a fun and creative way. I actively encourage players to share their stories online (for free) and to credit Colostle with their source/creation, but I am afraid that sale of those stories would be a breach of creative intellectual property protection.

 

This is just intended as a way to protect what I have created. It is difficult to protect something like this when those who play it end up creating something of their own off the back of it. This is not intended as a way to snub the players or actively block their creativity. I hope you will still enjoy playing the game.

STREAMING / VIDEO CONTENT OF COLOSTLE

Creating streaming and video content from Colostle playthroughs is not only allowed but actively encouraged! If you would like to make a stream or video about your adventures with Colostle, narrrating your journal, or discussing/reviewing the book then please feel welcome. The only thing I ask if you do intend to make this style of content is make sure that you credit Colostle and myself (Nich Angell) as the creator, as well as adding a link to Colostle.com. This information would ideally be in the description of the content but could also appear in the content itself.

If your stream or video content makes money for you as a creator and you end up making money off the video content you created with Colostle, this is not a problem either.

AGE SUITABILITY OF COLOSTLE
 

Colostle is suitable for all ages, there is not age restricted content in the book at all. Due to the complexity of the rules of the game, I would recommend players are aged 8 years or older, but I have heard stories from customers playing together with their children as young as 6 years.
